UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT
for contemporary architecture

publication | research project | ongoing

UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT for contemporary architecture is the first monographic publication focused on UFO group, active in Florence between 1968 and 1974 (Carlo Bachi, Lapo Binazzi, Patrizia Cammeo, Riccardo Foresi, Titti Maschietto), with the aim of: studying the group’s festive and apparently innocent and ironic experiments, which were actually conceived as veritable “trojan horses” to destroy myths and rituals of society, city and architecture in order to re-establish them on a political foundation; analysing the UFO’s relationship with the literary, artistic and architectural avant-garde of the 1960s; and, ultimately, understanding the group’s legacy in the contemporary profession of architecture.

UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT for contemporary architecture: UFO’s experiments between political activism and artistic avant-garde presented by the Faculty of Architecture LOCI (UCLouvain, Brussels) and curated by Beatrice Lampariello and False Mirror Office, has won the 2020 edition of "Italian Council 2020" program issued by the Directorate-General for the Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture and focused on the promotion of Italian arts abroad. The project consists of a book in two editions, Italian and English, to be published in summer 2022.

Project supported by the Italian Council, Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity, Italian Ministry of Culture.
